Designers know that people are shaped by their environments, but how far does it really go? For our new international research initiative Ecologies of Addiction, Van Alen is collaborating with Imperial College London’s Sustainable Society Network to investigate how a person’s vulnerability to addiction may be impacted by the environment.

With a focus on the landscape of London, Ecologies of Addiction is the first research component of Elsewhere: Escape and the Urban Landscape, a multi-year initiative exploring escape in the urban environment.
