In world of booming populations, what role do architects play in drafting innovative opportunities for density in our cities? How can architects make density desirable to all citizens? Furthermore, what “tricks of the trade” can architects use to add density in historic neighborhoods where new construction is impossible? To tackle these questions and more, the Van Alen Institute International Council and the Danish Architecture Centre present the panel discussion Drawing Intersections | Visions for Density in Architecture, an evening of conversation, presentation, questions, and ideas about how to create desirable and vibrant dense neighborhoods, in Europe and beyond.

The Van Alen International Council is a platform for exchange among leading architects, designers, developers, and planners, representing practices across more than 26 cities and 15 countries. Members meet twice annually to identify and investigate issues facing cities around the world, and to guide the impact of the Institute’s public programming, research, and design competitions.
