As a Van Alen Institute member, you are invited for a closeup of “Match-Maker”, the winning design in this year’s Times Square Valentine Heart Competition, a collaboration between Van Alen Institute and Times Square Arts.
For the past six years, the Times Square Alliance has invited architecture and design firms to submit proposals for a romantic Times Square public art installation to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This year’s winner, “Match-Maker” by Brooklyn-based design studio Young Projects, was selected from a pool of six proposals.
Using astrological principals of love and energy mapped through the zodiac calendar, the winning design offers possible connections between lonely souls. A glimpse into the tubes reveals the reflected faces of others who are also searching for love – fate, perhaps?
